In many ways, Tenacity began with our reissue titles. Virtually all have been instigated, coordinated and sourced by Tenacity's Dave Hill. Tracks have been taken from material as diverse as 1/4" tapes, acetates, cassettes, copy masters, and even microphone-in-front-of-the-speaker type material... We can liaise with originators of material, current catalogue owners, former & current group members, fan clubs and appreciation societies, as well as regional and national BBC sources. Acknowledging these talents, in 1993 Dave was approached by Virgin-ownedCaroline International to source their Buried Treasure and Sine labels. This relationship saw the release of titles by artists including Steve Phillips of The Notting Hillbillies (featuring Mark Knopfler and Brendan Croker), former Steamhammer and Tangerine Dream member Steve Jolliffe and a collaboration between Status Quo lyricist and harmonica player Bob Young and former Snafu, Juicy Lucy, Whitesnake member, Micky Moody. In the Summer of 1999, having been tipped off to his talents, Dave was approached by Pete Duncan (previously at London Weekend Television) of The Great Partnership. After much discussion of shared musical passions and ambitions, the two decided to form a record label - Siren Music. |
